With Sam Bradford being traded to the Minnesota Vikings Saturday morning, what does it mean for the prospects of Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles skill players?

Sam Bradford just got traded to a new team and is going to positively impact their fantasy prospects. Crazy world we live in, but it’s the truth following the announcement that the Eagles have traded the QB to the Vikings in exchange for first and fourth round picks in 2017 and another fourth round pick in 2018:

Owners of Vikings players like running back Adrian Peterson and wide receiver Stefon Diggs have to be a little happier than they were yesterday with this news. They go from potentially having journeyman, Shaun Hill under center to a generally competent Bradford.

It’s not exactly a glowing review for the former Heisman Trophy winner, but at this point it’s what he’s earned. Last year in Philadelphia, Bradford didn’t have a single receiver go for over 1,000 yards but that wasn’t exactly Bradford’s fault.

The Eagles receiving corps actually led the NFL in drops with 37 on 620 targets for a 6 percent drop rate. The Vikings receivers fared much better with a drop rate of 3.6 percent. What I’m saying here is that Bradford is going to a new home where he has a much more competent group of weapons. It also appears that Bradford himself is pretty excited by it:

Adrian Peterson is a massive upgrade over DeMarco Murray, who Chip Kelly struggled to figure out how to use in his offensive system. With the threat of Bradford, (albeit not a large threat) defenses won’t be stacking the box with seven-man fronts as often as they would have with Shaun Hill. Peterson will definitely benefit in this sense and I think the news brings him back to having top-three RB potential this season.

Stefon Diggs will benefit only slightly in my opinion with the change of QB. It’s enough to warrant Diggs being back on the WR3 map but not much more. Laquon Treadwell is another player who stands to benefit from Bradford in Minnesota. There are plenty of mouths to feed in Minnesota (Charles Johnson, Kyle Rudolph, Cordarrelle Patterson) but Treadwell at least will get a reasonable opportunity to develop as a rookie with Bradford throwing him the ball.

As for the Eagles skill players…ouch. Philadelphia will now be going with Chase Daniel at QB. It was already safe to stay away from the majority of players on the Eagles offense but now it gets worse.

Wide receiver Jordan Matthews, running back Ryan Mathews and tight end Zach Ertz are the only ones worthy of roster spots on your team. Daniel provides just enough competency at quarterback to expect around 900 yards and six-seven touchdowns from WR Matthews. As for RB Mathews and Ertz, their values change very little.

All-in-all: Vikings slightly up, Eagles slightly down.
