Could Marshawn Lynch return to the NFL?
Before the NFL’s first regular season game took place, Mike Florio dropped a bombshell about retired running back Marshawn Lynch.
When Marshawn Lynch posted a cryptic tweet during Super Bowl 50 and then retired, many thought he was done for good. The running back had nothing left to prove after winning a Super Bowl in his career and being one of the most dominant players of his era. Now, his retirement could be rather short.
Before the game, Mike Florio dropped a bombshell on NBC about Lynch. He said that the running back was considering coming out of retirement. He also said that he could return around Week 4 or Week 5. Florio also addressed where Lynch might play this year and said that it might not be Seattle.
While this news comes as a shock as the season is about to start, it makes sense that Lynch would want to return. When he was healthy and on the field, he was able to do some big things for the Seahawks. Injuries hampered his final year and it might not be the way that he wanted to go out.
If he does return and it’s not for the Seahawks, then he’s likely going to go to a contender in need of a running back. Getting a healthy Lynch could go a long way for a contender and it could turn a team into a Super Bowl favorite. While he hasn’t officially returned, this feels like there is a real possibility of him coming back to the NFL.
