Five college football coaches on the hot seat in desperate need for a Week 2 win.

Week 1 of the college football season is over, but it’s not too soon to start talking about the hot seat. While no coach is likely to get fired imminently, there aren’t many games in college football and losing multiple at the beginning of the year could lead to a coach being removed sooner than later. There are some coaches this year that have to produce or changes are going to be made.

With Week 2 set to be a week of big schools taking on small schools, there is absolutely no excuse for any program that falls to an inferior one. In fact, a loss to a small school could be the nail in the coffin for a coach. With a big week ahead for not stumbling in a trip game, these five coaches need to get a win under their belt.

5. Jim Mora Jr. – UCLA Bruins

The UCLA Bruins did a good job of coming back to force overtime against Texas A&M, but it was a tough loss for them to begin the year. With high expectations placed on the Bruins, they have to start delivering soon or Jim Mora could be in trouble. They have the high-profile quarterback to succeed and pro-level talent throughout the roster.

At this stage of the game, Mora has been there long enough that he has to prove the program can be consistent and reach the next level of contending for a playoff spot. If he can’t do that, then he’s running out of time. Taking care of UNLV this week will go a long way for Mora.

What would really help the Bruins is Josh Rosen can take that next step and become dominant. If he does that, then the Bruins have absolutely nothing to worry about there. The tools are there to succeed and it is time to do so.
