Bristol Motor Speedway orders 545.000 beers for Tennessee-Virginia Tech
Bristol Motor Speedway ordered an insane amount of beer as they host the college football game between Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
An estimated crowd of 150,000 is expected to be at the Battle of Bristol when the Tennessee Volunteers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies. Hopefully, they are thirsty because Bristol Motor Speedway is stocked with refreshments.
According to ESPN’s David Hale, 545,000 units of beer were ordered for the Battle at Bristol. Let that number sink in for a second. That’s more than half of a million cans of beer for one single football game.
I guess they are anticipating an audience who will be awfully parched and in dire need for their thirst to be quenched.
Taking 545,000 and the 150,000 estimated crowd, that comes out to an average of 3.6 cans of beer per person. That’s also assuming every person in attendance is of drinking age and wanting a can of Budweiser as they watch the Vols and Hokies to battle.
Let’s just say 100,000 in attendance are there to have some alcoholic beverages. That would equal 5.45 cans of beer per person. A little less than a six-pack isn’t an insane amount of beer for someone who will be at the venue for four hours.
But the sheer volume of beer ordered is enough to make you raise an eyebrow to be sure. Makes me wonder how much beer is ordered for the Daytona 500. The Battle at Bristol is going to set a record for the most-attended college football game of all-time. It just so happens, it may also set a record for the most liquored-up crowd too.

Hopefully, the crowd drinks responsibly and there aren’t any incidents in the stands of unruly fan behavior. What? Unruly fan behavior at a college football game? I know it’s practically unheard of, but please drink responsibly.
