UCF linebacker Demeitre Brim drilled Michigan wideout Eddie McDoom on Saturday and celebrated his work. Here is the issue with that: The Knights were down 31-7 and he was ejected for targeting.

Demeitre Brim and the UCF Knights traveled to Ann Arbor on Saturday for a meeting with Jim Harbaugh, Jabrill Peppers and the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines.

It’s not going well for the Knights and it only got worse for Brim in the second quarter. With UCF already down 31-7, Brim laid the wood on prized recruit Eddie McDoom (which is an awesome last name) and celebrated his big hit.

It’s bad enough you’re celebrating down 24 points in the first half.

It’s even worse when the hit gets you ejected from the game.

Brim was ejected for targeting on McDoom and the game went from bad to worse for UCF. Losing Brim means the Knights are losing a senior linebacker and a hard hitter as you can see above. It’s probably not going to matter for UCF, but it just comes to show that celebrating when you’re getting your backside handed to you is never a good thing.

As for the Wolverines, they continue to steamroll through the early portion of their schedule before the Big Ten schedule begins for them. They certainly look like one of the best teams in the country so far and their performance on Saturday isn’t changing matters.

On the other hand, UCF appears to be in line for another long season. They haven’t been able to find traction since their Fiesta Bowl win and the departure of Blake Bortles to the NFL a few seasons ago. New head coach (and former national title-winning quarterback at Nebraska) Scott Frost has his work cut out for him with the Knights.

The first lesson: Don’t celebrate when you’re down that much and definitely don’t celebrate a hit that gets you ejected.
