Which players won’t be seen during the Monday night game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers?

September 12 is the first day of Monday Night Football. The first game sees the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Washington to play the Redskins. The night contest will have the San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams. This will be the first regular season game for the Rams under the “Los Angeles” team moniker in over 20 years.

The 49ers are dealing with some injuries coming into this game on the offensive and defensive lines. Arik Armstead and Glenn Dorsey came into Monday dealing with some ailments. Would they miss the game?

The main story is with guard Anthony Davis. He’s been listed as “questionable” and under “non-injury related”. He returned to practice on Sunday, though, and moved back to his natural position of tackle.

The Rams had some injuries to deal with, too, including two wide receivers in Pharoah Cooper and Nelson Spruce. They had been listed by the Rams as “out”, but did that change on Monday?

With this in mind, here’s a look at the inactive list for the Week 1 game of the Rams vs. 49ers.

49ers

Christian Ponder, quarterback

Keith Reiser, cornerback

Chris Davis, cornerback

Joshua Garnett, guard

John Theus, offensive lineman

Glenn Dorsey, defensive lineman

Taylor Hart, defensive tackle

Rams

Jared Goff, quarterback

Pharoah Cooper, wide receiver

Nelson Spruce, wide receiver

EJ Gaines, cornerback

Steven Williams, cornerback

Pace Murphy, offensive lineman

Matt Longacre, defensive lineman

The most notable player from both lists is Goff, who was the 2016 No. 1 overall pick. Being inactive and unable to get past Sean Mannion and Case Keenum on the opening night roster may be concerning. There could be a plan in place for Goff to develop like other former first round signal-callers have.
