NFL roundup: Adrian Peterson to have surgery, will miss months
By Brad Weiss
The worst case scenario is playing out in Minnesota, as star Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will miss months of the NFL season due to surgery.
Minnesota is becoming the land of busted knees. After losing starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a devastating knee injury during the preseason, the Vikings lost their star running back to one on Sunday night. Adrian Peterson tore the meniscus in his left knee while also spraining his LCL. He will undergo surgery on Thursday, and is expected to miss a few months. The team signed Ronnie Hillman for added running back depth on Wednesday.
One of the lone bright spots on the 0-2 Cleveland Browns this season has been rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman, who had a great game this past Sunday. Coleman hauled in five receptions for over 100 yards while scoring twice. He broke his hand during practice on Wednesday, as someone came down on his hand after he made a catch. The first rounder from Baylor is another one on a long list of injuries to the Browns already this year, as the team has already lost quarterback Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown for the foreseeable future.
San Diego Chargers rookie defensive end Joey Bosa may finally be ready to join his team in game action soon. The first rounder from Ohio State practiced in full pads on Wednesday, the first time he has been in full pads since the Fiesta Bowl. He did not say he would be ready for Sunday, but for him to be in pads is a good sign for the Bolts.
Doug Martin has established himself as one of the best running backs in all of football, but the Tampa Bay Buc will now be out for a few weeks. Martin left the team’s blowout loss against the Arizona Cardinals in the first half, and an MRI showed some damage to the hamstring. Charles Sims will receive an extra large workload starting this week as the team takes on the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. The Bucs have a bye in Week 6, giving Martin an extra week before returning.

In a recent poll of Americans by E-Poll Marketing Research, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was voted the most disliked player in the NFL. The poll asked 1,100 people from all demographics who they felt liked the least, and Kap came in at No. 1. The result is no doubt because of the fact that Kaepernick has refused to stand for the national anthem, hoping to bring awareness to racial injustice in the country. In contrast, jersey sales for the quarterback have skyrocketed since he began his peaceful protest.
