Throwing more than caution to the wind, a Chicago Cubs fan got a World Series champions tattoo less than a week before the start of the playoffs.

In the world of sports and gambling there isn’t a fan alive that hasn’t heard the saying, “Put your money where your mouth is.”

With an incredible show of faith, a Chicago Cubs fan is celebrating a very early World Series win in the form of a tattoo.

He got the tattoo to win a contest for a radio show, and hey, it was free so why not?

While he’s not the first to prematurely get a championship tattoo, a feat that was previously done by fans of the Kentucky Wildcats and Denver Broncos, it is by far the boldest move yet due to Chicago’s championship drought of 108 years.

Yes it’s too early to guarantee victory, but Chicago fans have every reason to be optimistic. The team has been on an absolute tear this year, running away with the division and winning over 100 games for the first time since 1935.

Almost as equally crippling for Cubs fans is their absence from a World Series since 1945.

So what gives? Does he subscribe to some kind of mailer that the rest of us can’t afford, or is October Fest already in full swing at his house?

The simple truth is, sports have the tendency to make every fan a little crazy. The other truth is that at the beginning of every season, there isn’t a fan alive that doesn’t get their hopes up.

Is this finally their year?

No one can say for sure because in the sports world, nothing is a sure thing. However, the one thing that is for sure is that here are three things in life that are forever: Diamonds, tattoos and regret.

Let’s hope for his sake that he hasn’t successfully locked up two out of three of those forevers in one moment.

If all else fails, this fan does have one thing going for him: He lives in Chicago, the Windy City. If by chance the Cubs don’t win it all, he could always go shopping for sweatpants.
