Kenny Stills hauls in 74-yard TD vs Bengals (Video)

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills gets his team on the board during Thursday Night Football on a 74-yard touchdown catch from Ryan Tannehill.

Early in the first quarter on Thursday Night Football in Week 4, the Miami Dolphins had the first explosive play of the game on a 74-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ryan Tannehill to wide receiver Kenny Stills.

Miami was down 3-0 after the Bengals scored a field goal on their first drive of the night. On the second play from scrimmage for Miami, Tannehill throws one outstanding pump fake that even confuses the camera before connecting with Stills for an easy over the top touchdown. The successful PAT put Miami up 7-3 halfway through the first quarter.

Tannehill is really growing in first-year head coach Adam Gase’s offense. Keep in mind that last season after Joe Philbin was fired following the London game that Tannehill wasn’t allowed to audible at the line of scrimmage for interim head coach Dan Campbell.

Gase is a bit of a quarterback whisperer. He had great success with Peyton Manning in 2013 and 2014 on John Fox’s Denver Broncos staff as its offensive coordinator. Gase would follow Fox to the Chicago Bears and actually made aloof quarterback Jay Cutler look respectable.

Tannehill is a fantastic athlete. He was a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M University and was a wideout for Mike Sherman’s Aggies his first few years in College Station.

Should Tannehill continue to thrive under Gase, he could end up making a trip to the Pro Bowl. Miami has an elite pass rush. If Tannehill plays well in 2016, then the Dolphins have a real shot at an AFC Wild Card berth.
