The San Diego State Aztecs are on fire. After starting the season 3-0 and coming off an early bye week in week 4, the Aztecs are ready to take on the South Alabama Jaguars with a No. 19 ranking under their belt.
Rocky Long’s Aztecs have been undefeated since early last season. Star running back Donnell Pumphrey shattered Marshall Faulk’s school record of 4,589 rushing yards during SDSU’s win over Cal two weeks ago.
Pumphrey notched 281 rushing yards in that game alone and he’s currently sitting on seven touchdowns and 599 yards on this young season. Six more rushing touchdowns and he’ll surpass Faulk’s record.

The South Alabama Jaguars come into Week 5 with a 2-2 split record. Quarterback Dallas Davis will likely look to tight end Gerald Everett. The Dallas-Everett matchup has led to two touchdowns so far this season with 21 receptions and 290 yards for Everett.
While Davis has thrown more than SDSU’s Christian Chapman, it should be noted that Dallas Davis has as many touchdowns as he does interceptions so far this season with five apiece. South Alabama had two rough games against Louisiana-Lafayette and Georgia Southern, but they did manage to beat Mississippi State at home.

SDSU has yet to notch a win against an SEC team, but their 45-40 win against Cal gave them a big win against a Power Five school and helped boost them in the rankings.
