The Houston Texans rebounded from their debacle in Foxborough when they hosted the division rival Tennessee Titans.

So far it’s been somewhat predictable when it comes to the Houston Texans. The team has played three of its first four games at home and come away with wins on each occasions. On Sunday against the visiting Tennessee Titans, the team overcame a pair of interceptions from quarterback Brock Osweiler, squandered a 17-3 second-quarter lead and still wound up beating Mike Mularkey’s team, 27-20.

While Tennessee managed to overcome that early deficit they were never able to take the lead in this contest. The Titans fell to 1-3 on the young season while the Texans already own a two-game lead in the AFC South after four weeks of play.

It was also a nice bounce back of sorts for Bill O’Brien and company, humbled at Foxborough a week and a half ago and now without defensive end J.J. Watt. But the Texans took care of business at home and held serve in their first AFC South encounter of the season.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Will Fuller

The Texans’ first-round pick continues to justify why the club was so excited to add him to the mix. On Sunday, he led Houston with seven catches, good for 81 yards and a score.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, the former Golden Domer returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter that proved to be the difference in his team’s 27-20 victory. On Sunday, Fuller touched the ball eight times and rolled up 148 total combined yards and a pair of trips to the end zone.

2. Lamar Miller

For the first time in four games this season, the 2016 free-agent addition failed to total at least 20 rushing attempts.
So what? Miller ran for 82 yards on 19 carries and caught all three passes aimed his way, good for an additional 26 yards in the Texans’ 27-20 victory. While Miller has yet to reach the end zone this season, he’s already racked up 429 total yards from scrimmage – 108 of those in the win over Tennessee.

3. DeMarco Murray

The Titans dropped to 1-3 but it was another terrific outing by the 2014 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. An afterthought with the Philadelphia Eagles last season, he continues to be a bright spot for his newest club.
Murray scored both of his team’s touchdowns in the 27-20 loss at Houston. He ran 25 times for 95 yards and caught a pair of passes in Tennessee’s latest setback.

Odds

Although the game opened this week with the Texans being a 6.5-point favorite, the loss of defensive end J.J. Watt no doubt had an influence on bettors with Houston a 4.5-point favorite on Sunday.

Next Week

Both the Titans and Texans hit the road in Week 5. Tennessee travels to South Florida to meet the 1-3 Dolphins, while Houston may have a problem in the Twin Cities as they face the Minnesota Vikings.
