What are the matchups for the 2016 ALDS?

The Wild Card is officially over in the American League, as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles. It was a game that went extra innings and featured plenty of emotion from both sides. In the end, it was a walk-off home run from Edwin Encarnación that sent the Blue Jays to the next round.

With the win, the Blue Jays will now advance to the ALDS. They will take on the Texas Rangers, which will begin on Thursday night. These two teams hate each other and it led to a brawl between the two sides this season.

The other matchup in the ALDS is between the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox. It’s going to be Terry Francona going up against his old club. It will also be David Ortiz playing in his final playoffs. There are plenty of narratives to go around here.

There is nothing quite like the playoffs and the American League offers plenty of stories to follow this year. Tuesday night’s game between the Blue Jays and Orioles served as a reminder just how great the sport can be at times. Which teams will come out on top and make the ALCS?
