These five college football head coaches need a win in Week 6 or their own personal hot seat will continue to warm up.

Week 6 of the college football season is upon us. While some teams have high aspirations, others are hoping to just get by and keep everything in tact. It’s gotten to the point of the season where some coaches are going to be let go soon and programs begin going in a different direction. Some programs are trending in the wrong direction and even though they might have gotten a win last week, they can’t afford to let up this week.

There are plenty of big games for coaches on the hot seat. Losses to a hated rival could doom a coach, while another blowout loss could doom another. There is no margin for error now and these five coaches need wins this week.

5. Gus Malzahn

Gus Malzahn has made the hot seat watch yet again. While his Auburn Tigers have been pretty good this year, albeit with two tough losses, he isn’t quite out of the woods yet. Malzahn can’t afford for the Tigers to drop any disappointing games.

This week, Auburn will take on Mississippi State on the road. While this is a game Auburn should have a great chance in, the Tigers can’t take the Bulldogs for granted. A tough loss on the road could set up the Tigers for a long season.

Their schedule is already a tough one. Get this win and the leash for Malzahn should be extended a little bit. Lose this one and his hot seat just got turned up a couple of notches again.
