Martellus Bennett is making headlines for criticizing his old team, the Chicago Bears, yet again.
Some guys like to talk and just can’t seem to let the past be the past. That seems to be a perfect way of describing former Chicago Bears and current New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett.
An upcoming E:60 profile on Martellus and his brother, Michael, had them sounding off on a variety of topics. They included Roger Goodell, Jay Cutler and other Bears players, who Martellus called “b*****s”:

This is far from the first time that Bennett has gone out of his way to criticize Cutler and his former team. Just two months ago, he called Cutler the “worst quarterback in the NFL.” Cutler politely responded to the criticism, but Bennett supposedly still feels the need to dig up the past.
Enough is enough, Martellus. At what point do you shut your mouth and just enjoy what you have? He’s having plenty of success playing for the 4-1 Patriots and just caught three touchdowns from Tom Brady on Sunday. Though he has been a very successful tight end, Bennett has bounced around to four different teams (Cowboys, Giants, Bears and Patriots) during his nine years in the NFL.
David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune summed things up perfectly with his tweet on Tuesday afternoon:
Martellus Bennett is a terrific TE. But there's a reason good player is on 4th team. Act wears thin, jokes become unfunny, words just noise.

Haugh wasn’t the only one to voice displeasure with the tight end on Twitter:
Martellus Bennett is a good football player. As a person, he's incredibly rude, disrespectful, and seems self-centered. Just my opinion.

Martellus Bennett the player is great. Martellus the person, is a joke.

As Martellus Bennett throws another grenade at #Bears, a reminder: he ducked Chicago media questions for 4 days during Aug joint practices

The last tweet describes exactly why so many Chicago media members and Bears fans take offense to Bennett’s words. The Patriots and Bears held joint practices in August, and Bennett was all but invisible to the Chicago media. He was also involved in a small altercation with a few Bears players.

I don’t know what your problem is, Martellus, but the remarks have just gotten old. At this point, everyone hopes this is your last futile jab taken at the Bears. In the meantime, enjoy your success in New England and let the Bears be the Bears.
