Ben Roethlisberger left Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins with an apparent knee injury, but who is his backup should he miss time?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a constant cycle of contending for a Super Bowl. Even when they’re bad, they’re still one of the best teams in the NFL and that has a lot to do with the ‘next man up’ mentality that Mike toil subscribes to.

Unfortunately, that has been tested time and time again over the past few seasons, specifically with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Last year Big Ben was hurt a few different times, but still came back to lead the Steelers to the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs.

Roethlisberger went down again on Sunday in the Steelers Week 6 showdown with the Dolphins. He was taken tot he locker room with what was being called a knee injury. Hi return was questionable, but that meant it was immediately time to lean on the ‘next man up’ mantra.

That meant it was time for the Landry Jones experience. If you were wondering who Roethlisberger’s backup is, it’s Jones. The real question is who would be coming in if Jones were to go down with an injury.

If that happens, it’d be time for Zach Mettenberger to step up and make s difference. That’s a tall order for Mike Tomlin when it comes to making that team winner, but there might not be a better coach in the league who can handle a situation like that. Tomlin is a pro, but losing Roethlisberger is something that you never want to deal with if you’re looking to make a mark in an already competitive AFC.
