Josh Brown has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list to allow the league to review new evidence into domestic violence case of the New York Giants kicker.

After new evidence turned up in the domestic violence case surrounding New York Giants kicker Josh Brown, he has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. The new evidence was in the form of journal entries from Brown who admitted to abusing his now ex-wife, Molly Brown.

Brown was initially handed a one-game suspension from the NFL but under the conditions of being on the exempt list, he will no longer be allowed to practice or attend games. However, Brown will still collect his paycheck as the NFL reviews the new evidence and determines if further actions are required.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the NFL has 165 pages of new evidence from Brown’s journal entries that came as part of his treatment. In these journals, he paints the picture of a serial abuser and La Canfora reports executives from other teams are upset with the NFL and the Giants for their handling of this case.

Public perception would coincide with La Canfora’s report. A one-game suspension for what Brown confesses to in his journals are another stain on the NFL shield. The NFL has been rocked hard in recent years with domestic violence cases, including Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson who were on the commissioner’s exempt list two years.

As the NFL continues their investigation into Brown, it should be painfully obvious that there is not a place in the league for a person who has committed such heinous acts. Despite the public outcry for Brown to be released, the Giants are not turning their back on him entirely.

The Giants did bring in former Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould for this weekend, but they haven’t released Brown and I’m not sure why they would align themselves any longer once they became aware of his domestic violence past.

Brown should never kick in the NFL ever again and should be given the stiffest penalty the league can levy.
