When did the Chicago Cubs last win the World Series and claim the throne of best team in Major League Baseball?

It has been a long time since the Chicago Cubs won a World Series, that is common knowledge. But how long has it been exactly? Well, the Cubs haven’t won a championship in 108 years.

The Cubs last won a World Series in 1908, their second consecutive year winning the championship. Those are the Cubs’ only two World Series titles.

To put it into perspective how long ago that was, here is some trivia for you. Theodore Roosevelt was the president the last time the Cubs won the World Series. The first World War hadn’t begun even. Women hadn’t won the right to vote yet, prohibition would come and then be repealed.

Major League Baseball had just 16 teams back in 1908, and has since doubled in size. When the Cubs last won the World Series, the League Championship Series hadn’t even come to fruition yet, coming later in 1969.

The Boston Red Sox had a whole 87 year curse come into existence and then come to an end in the years the Cubs have gone without winning a World Series. Professional football wouldn’t come into existence for another 12 years. The NBA was still 38 years away from being founded and the NHL was still 9 years away from being founded. And Babe Ruth was just 13 years old.
