Western Michigan Broncos head coach P.J. Fleck is ready for a bigger opportunity. Here are five potential landing spots for him if he leaves Kalamazoo.

The Western Michigan Broncos are 9-0 and should be one of the teams vying for the New Year’s Six Bowl out of the Group of 5. They are led by two men in head coach P.J. Fleck and standout senior wide receiver Corey Davis.

Despite all the winning at Western Michigan, the Broncos just don’t have the support to keep Fleck around forever. He’s probably going to leave for a bigger job this offseason, especially with Davis probably going in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Here are the five jobs that Fleck could leave Kalamazoo for in 2017.

5. Houston Cougars

With Houston not getting a bid to join the declining Big 12, that almost assures that Cougars head coach Tom Herman is skipping town after two years with the program for a Power 5 opportunity. Though Houston is not yet a Power 5 job, this would be a step up from Western Michigan for Fleck.

The amount of college football talent in Harris County, Texas is staggering. If Fleck can win this often at Western Michigan, imagine what he could do at Houston should he succeed Herman?

Houston needs to get a suitable replacement for the soon-to-be exiting Herman. The best shot that Houston would have at getting a Power 5 bid would be to bring in another offensive-minded head coach that has won a ton at a mid-major. Fleck could be that guy if Houston doesn’t go for the next up-and-coming Air Raid aficionado from the Lone Star State.

Fleck may only leave Western Michigan for a Power 5 job, but he’s going to get one eventually. It might be in his best interest to develop recruit circles in Texas for when that next big opportunity presents itself for him. Houston is the best Group of 5 job that will likely be available. It wouldn’t be shocking to see Fleck leave the MAC for the AAC in Houston.
