Colts at Packers: Highlights, score and recap
By John Buhler
The Green Bay Packers will host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. Here are all the highlights, a game recap, and a final score.
The late afternoon game on CBS will be between the Indianapolis Colts (3-5) and the Green Bay Packers (4-3). Kickoff from Lambeau Field will be at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, November 6th.
Indianapolis looked awful in its home loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. The Colts need to right the ship fast if they want to reach the AFC Playoffs. They trail the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South standings, ahead of only the Jacksonville Jaguars who Indianapolis lost to in London.
Green Bay lost a heartbreaker to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8, 33-32. The Packers are very much alive in both the NFC North and NFC Wild Card races at 4-3. They’ll need a win over the Colts to keep pace with the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions in the NFC North.
Both of these teams aren’t without their warts. Green Bay cannot run the football and does not really have the weapons on offense to get the most out of Aaron Rodgers at the quarterback position. Indianapolis struggles on defense and can’t keep quarterback Andrew Luck upright consistently. Frankly, both teams might be heading for a rebuild in the coming seasons.
What will decide this game is the outstanding home field advantage of the Packers. Few visiting teams win in Lambeau and the Colts aren’t deep enough to hang with the Packers in Green Bay. Not saying this will get ugly, but the Packers are more than capable of covering the 7.5-point spread at home in this one.
Three Stars
- Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers has played better ball for the Packers the last two weeks. He should be the best player on the Lambeau gridiron on Sunday afternoon. Look for him to complete 64% of his passes for 345 yards, three touchdowns, and rush for an additional 45 yards.
- Andrew Luck: Luck is clearly the best player on a bad Colts team. He’ll do enough to keep Indianapolis in the game until late in the fourth quarter. Look for Luck to complete 62% of his passes for 310 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
- Jordy Nelson: Nelson will again be Rodgers’ favorite target on Sunday. Look for Nelson to have somewhere around seven catches for 110 yards and a touchdown.
