The Los Angeles Rams will head to New York to take on the Jets in Week 10 as both teams will try and claw their way back in contention.

One team has to win right? The Rams and Jets will be perhaps the most dreadful game of the week. But the game has to be played and the winner can cling on to at least one more week of being in the mix, sort of. With a win for LA, the Rams would be 4-5. NFL Network insider, Ian Rapoport reported that the Rams won’t play rookie QB Jared Goff until they’re officially out of playoff contention.

For the Jets, a win would bring them to 4-6, as their lost Sunday totaled the entire amount of lossses that they had all year. Head coach Todd Bowles said via NJ.com that Ryan Fitzpatrick will start barring a setback, and if that’s the case then Bryce Petty would get the nod.

Regardless of Fitzpatrick’s health, it’s time Petty is unveiled and starts a game for the Jets. The Jets have nothing to lose, sort of like the Rams who might as well start Goff over Case Keenum. There’s only one way for Goff to improve and learn as a passer, and that’s by playing. Head coach Jeff Fisher is hindering Goff’s progression by holding his hand and babysitting him as opposed to cutting him lose and letting him play.

The NFL is a rough reality and it will be a wake up for Goff. It’s better for him to get his feet wet in the league then sitting on the bench watching the NFL’s worst offense. This game could be another 13-10 type game for the Rams. LA is averaging a mere 16.2 points per game after putting up just 10 against the Panthers.

If I’m a Jets or Rams fan, I wouldn’t be purchasing any tickets until the kids start at quarterback. Neither Keenum or Fitzpatrick is going to lead this team in the future and both head coaches have already seen enough of both QB’s to know what they’re going to get from them.

Odds

Right now, the Jets are 2.5 point favorites at home. This game is a toss up, though, and will come down to a Fitzpatrick interception, or if Keenum can’t move the ball against the Jets defense. If you love passing and chunk plays stay away.

Prediction: Jets 12, Rams 6
