Washington Huskies star receiver John Ross came up huge in the third quarter, blowing the USC secondary away for a long touchdown.

Watching the Washington Huskies in the 2016 college football season, it’s hard to not fall in love with wide receiver John Ross. He does everything that makes football fun on the offensive side of the ball, from breaking open big plays, shedding tackles, and simply always being open. As his undefeated Washington team trailed the USC Trojans in the third quarter, though, they needed the wideout to come through again. Coming as a shock to no one, he delivered when called upon.

Right off of the line, Ross made a little move inside before cutting back outside. However, that little move/cut was so vicious and convincing, that USC star cornerback Adoree Jackson was left tripping over himself and watching Ross streak down the left sideline.

Ross was all alone and showing off his elite speed and Jake Browning dropped the easy throw to him right where it needed to be. The speedster kept rolling with no one even near him all the way to the house for the 70-yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 17-13 in favor of the Trojans:

There’s really nothing you can do to stop that. Yeah, it would’ve helped had Jackson been able to stay on his feet. However, John Ross has some of the quickest and crispest footwork in all of college football. It’s one of the many reasons why he’s viewed by many as the best receiver in the 2017 NFL Draft.

That huge score from Ross really swung momentum in favor of the Huskies at home—or so it seemed. On the ensuing USC drive, Washington came up with a big interception and had the chance at points. Unfortunately, the field goal was blocked and this Pac-12 matchup stayed insane.
