Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles’ mechanics are in the toilet this season. Here is a bad pick-six he threw to Kareem Jackson.

The Jacksonville Jaguars need a new coaching staff. Its incompetence has had a negative affect on franchise quarterback Blake Bortles’ development. After a stellar second season in the NFL last year, Bortles’ mechanics have fallen to the wayside as the Jaguars continue to play awful football in 2016.

Here is Bortles throwing an atrocious pick-six to Houston Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson early in the Jaguars’ Week 10 game against the rival Texans at home on Sunday.

The Jaguars have already fired their former offensive coordinator Greg Olson mid-season. Olson was blamed the scapegoat for Bortles’ downward spiral in 2016. Bortles’ footwork is sloppy and now he is trying to force throws.

That is a recipe for disaster against a divisional rival that already has a strong defense in Houston. Bortles tried to force the ball near the sideline and completely telegraphed his pass. Jackson leapt right in front of the Bortles throw and took it to the house for the easy Houston touchdown.

Houston is not a perfect football team, but the Texans have to be the favorites to win the AFC South this season. The Texans have yet to drop a game at home this season. If Houston can beat its divisional rivals on the road, the Texans can clinch the weak AFC South with a 10-6 record for the second straight season.

Jacksonville needs to honestly assess somethings this offseason. Bortles has shown flashes of promise, but will need a new coaching staff that won’t put him in bad situations offensively. Franchise quarterbacks don’t grow on trees, but Jacksonville can’t like what it has seen from Bortles this season.
