Which teams are set to kickoff once the sun sets during Week 12 of the college football season?

Week 11 of the college football season put some cliches to sleep. For one, a team’s win-loss record is not indicative of how their season will fare. That’s true for Ole Miss after freshman QB Shea Patterson helped the Rebels to a win over Texas A&M. Secondly, a team’s early ranking in the College Football Playoff is proving to be irrelevant. Auburn is the victim in this case following a loss to a depleted Georgia team.

What makes college football truly spectacular, though, are the nighttime features. During the after hours of Week 11, Luke Falk proved he was worthy as he out-performed Cal QB Davis Webb in a 56-21 statement win. And if you stayed up late enough to watch Boise State-Hawaii, then you, unsurprisingly, witnessed an effortless game from Brett Rypien.

Heading into Week 12, there are two games on the radar: Oklahoma-West Virgina (8 EST) and Southern Cal-UCLA (10:30 EST). An additional two primetime meetings between Arkansas-Mississippi State (7:30 EST) and Clemson-Wake Forest (7 EST) could also be added to the calendar.

On the one hand, Arkansas lost miserably to LSU in Week 11 as both Fournette and Guice played hot potato in the rushing game. Their Week 12 opponent, Mississippi State, would like nothing more than to recover from a 51-3 loss to Alabama. As for Clemson-Wake Forest, both teams are shaken up by their performances this past weekend. Clemson lost to Pitt, thanks to Pitt K Chris Blewitt and Wake Forest had Louisville in a chokehold up until the fourth quarter.

But let’s skip the appetizers and eat our way through the main course.

Slated to start at 8:00 PM EST, Oklahoma-West Virginia could be a hit or miss. Oklahoma is entering this game as the heavy favorite, but playing in Morgantown isn’t easy. While on their home turf, West Virginia’s given up no more than 21 points to opponents this season. But the chemistry between Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook is too intangible for opposing defenses.

The Pac-12 after dark special between UCLA and USC could also be a dandy. After experiencing a four-game losing streak (ASU, Washington St., Utah, Colorado), UCLA struck back against Oregon St. in Week 11, regardless of the Beavers’ 12 penalties. However, USC frosh QB Sam Darnold is clicking with his favorite target, JuJu Smith-Schuster. And if USC’s offense can harass the nation’s best defense in Washington, then UCLA’s in for a hard night.
