Persona 5 has been delayed again, and fans are not happy.

Persona is a video game series that is loved by fans everywhere. An RPG (role-playing game) developed by Atlus, it’s one of the best at what it does. It isn’t a series that’s for everybody, but for those gamers who dig this type of gameplay, it definitely suits them best.

The next installment in the franchise, Persona 5, is almost here. However, it looks like we’ll have to wait even longer now since the game has been delayed once again. IGN reported the news.

It was announced at E3 2016 that it would finally release on February 14, 2017. Now, it has been pushed back two more months and will release on April 4, 2017. Here’s a statement from developer Atlus down below:

"The Japanese release of Persona 5 smashed all our expectations, and as a company, we decided that we owed our fans the very best effort to make Persona 5 our gold standard in localization. Practically, this means redoubling our QA and localization efforts, even returning to the studio to record previously unvoiced lines. We don’t want to rush this game and in this case, it meant we needed to move the release back for the last time."

Delays in today’s video game industry aren’t very surprising. To name a few recent examples, there’s Final Fantasy XV and The Last Guardian. Both of these games have been in development for almost 10 years.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is another game that has seen delays. It was originally scheduled to release in 2015, but it was eventually pushed back to 2017.

We want the best games possible and if the developers feel like they need more time, then so be it. These delays can become a bit annoying, though.
