On Thursday Nov. 17, the Dallas Stars (6-6-5) will host the Colorado Avalanche (7-8-0) at the American Airlines Center. The opening faceoff will be at 8:30 p.m. ET. This game will be aired on Fox Sports Southwest in Texas and Altitude in Colorado.
Dallas is looking to right their ship after consecutive overtime losses to the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils. They currently sit in the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, but the Nashville Predators, among other teams, aren’t too far behind. Dallas has a 3-2-4 record in the month of October. While they have been plagued by injuries, their blue line inexperience is also costing them games. Dallas has a 3-2-2 record at home.
On the other side of the ice, the Avalanche have been struggling to find their legs under new head coach Jared Bednar. Colorado has been one of the worst scoring teams in the NHL, averaging a mere 2.07 goals per game. They have a 3-4-0 record on the road this season. Colorado will be without Matt Duchene, their leading goal scorer and their team leader in points. Gabriel Landeskog (eight points) will also be out for the game.

Both teams desperately need a win. The Stars should be able to pull off a win, but they’ve been quite disappointing so far this season. However, with the Avalanche stuck in a rut, Dallas should be able to take advantage, especially without Duchene and Landeskog. Should be a great game.
