Charlie Strong had to meet with the Texas Longhorns media after losing to the Kansas Jayhawks. Here is the most painful part of the press conference.

The Texas Longhorns shockingly fell to 5-6 on the season on Saturday night by losing to the terrible Kansas Jayhawks in overtime, 24-21. Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong had to meet with the Texas media after the excruciating loss to Kansas. It was especially cringeworthy.

The most painful part of the press conference came when a Longhorns beat reporter asked him if he knew what this lost meant for his future at Texas? Strong would respond with, “I don’t know.”

That question being asked was kind of like wrangling the elephant in the room. Everybody was thinking it, but that was so awkward to ask Strong that question. Does he deserve immense scrutiny for losing on the road to atrocious Kansas? Sure, but did it really have to be this blunt of an interrogation?

Likely, Strong will not ultimately survive this loss to the Jayhawks. He could get to coach of the rest of the Longhorns’ 2016, but the writing for his dismissal on plastered on the wall.

Texas is far too good of a college football brand to be 6-6 for any extended period. Strong has never finished better than 7-6 in any of his three seasons in Austin. Texas has to beat the TCU Horned Frogs at home to get to a holiday season bowl. After that type of a crushing defeat at the hands of toothless Kansas, it’s unlikely the Texas team will rally around its failing head coach.

To say that Strong is on the hot seat would be a massive understatement. He seat is ablaze with torched Texas boosters anger. How did Texas lose to Kansas?
