Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. might be small and old, but he can still make great catches at wideout. Watch this grab that led to a wink.

The Baltimore Ravens lead the AFC North at 5-4 on the year. Baltimore has won two straight games to regain first place in its division. It has been mostly the stellar Ravens run defense keying their turnaround, but they are getting timely plays from the offense.

Early in the second quarter on the road against the Dallas Cowboys, Ravens ageless and diminutive wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. uses all 5’9″ inches of his frame to come up with this impressive grab. It was so good, Smith even flashed a wink at Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.

On a third and long deep from their own end of the field, Ravens starting quarterback Joe Flacco would target Smith past the first down marker on the Cowboys’ side of the field. Smith would reach for the grab and double-tap his toes to ensure that he was in bounds.

Garrett would challenge the play, believing that Smith did not get his right foot in bounds. Upon further review, the call of Flacco’s completion to Smith would be upheld and the Ravens would extend their drive.

Smith has put together a Pro Football Hall of Fame worthy career for the last decade plus between the Carolina Panthers and the Ravens. He has never been the most skilled or physically imposing wideout in the NFL. However, few if any can rival Smith’s overall competitiveness. It has been a huge part of his game for so many years.
