In what will become a story for the ages, two fans went to Old Trafford for a stadium tour, then slept overnight to attend Manchester United vs. Arsenal.

Premier League teams are known for having a global outreach, but nobody is more popular than Manchester United. For anyone who doesn’t live in the Greater Manchester Area, attending a rivalry game at Old Trafford is a common bucket list item. While tickets for those games are nearly impossible to come by, perhaps more international fans will adopt this approach from now on.

The Daily Mail released a story about two foreign Manchester United supporters who went to Old Trafford for a stadium tour. But the tour happened to come a day before United was set to take on Arsenal, and they really wanted to see the game. So what did they do? They stayed in Old Trafford after the tour was done, and slept in the toilets overnight. They watched the game unfold, and nobody found out about the incident until after the fact.

While it makes for a legendary story back at home, it has caused somewhat of a crisis among United’s security team. For one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, they shouldn’t have let something like this happen. And the way they’ve discussed the incident has led some people to believe that someone’s bound to get fired:

"We realise people will go to any lengths to watch a game at Old Trafford but these people went too far. The fact that they and their belongings had been searched before entry means we are confident there was no risk to safety."

This isn’t the first big security mishap that they’ve had. Late last season, Manchester United had a bomb scare before a match against Bournemouth. It turned out to be the result of a training exercise, and while they promised to tighten up security since then, it clearly hasn’t worked.

And while it’s a totally different venue, something similar to this happened last week. Two Irishmen got to tour the Pentagon, then went to New York for UFC 205. They took a photo of the press passes of two journalists, recreated it, and used them to get backstage access to see Conor McGregor’s historic performance.
