LSU junior running back Leonard Fournette has been ruled out of the Thanksgiving night game against Texas A&M and may have played his last game for the Tigers.

Leonard Fournette’s injury-plagued junior season may be over. The LSU junior running back has been ruled out for the Thanksgiving night game against the Texas A&M Aggies. Both  The Advocate and The Times-Picayune reported Fournette will miss the game and his college career may be over as a result.

Fournette has battled a nagging ankle injury since the beginning of the season and has missed time with the ailment this year. He was initially ruled out for last week’s game against the Florida Gators before convincing interim head coach Ed Orgeron he was going to play. He played but was very limited and wasn’t on the field for LSU’s 4th-and-1 from the 1-yard line for the game’s final play in a sign that he was far from his normal self.

LSU will play in a mid-tier bowl game next month but I think Fournette would be wise to sit out the game and get his body right for the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine in February. If Fournette needs surgery to clean out or repair the ankle issue he’s experienced this year, he should get that taken care of as soon as possible to make sure he is 100 percent for the combine so he can answer any questions the NFL has about his health.

They won’t have any questions about his talent or production during his three seasons at LSU. Prior to this year, Fournette has had a clean medical history so as long as he can get his ankle correct, he should be in the mix for being a top-five pick and could be next year’s Ezekiel Elliott and take the NFL by storm.
