Chelsea Myers, named Miss Arizona 2016, got a first-hand look on Friday night at how hard-hitting college football can be.

On Friday night, an in-state rivalry game took place between the Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils.

Then all of a sudden, we found out one person on the sidelines doesn’t exactly play for either team. That person … is Miss Arizona 2016, Chelsea Myers.

During the game, the Wildcats were cruising to a 21-7 lead. Midway through the second quarter, the Arizona had the ball 1st and 10 from the ASU 11-yard line. Their quarterback, Brandon Dawkins, sprinted to the right side and was driven out of bounds. That’s when he inadvertently said hello to the reigning Miss Arizona.

Dawkins collided with her on the sidelines after he was ruled out of bounds at the 3 yard line. They both went crashing to the ground in what looked to be an ugly tangle. Moments later, she was back on her feet and laughing about the incident. As she was speaking with a sideline reporter, Dawkins ran over to her and quickly apologized, which she gladly accepted.

Arizona went on to score on that drive, making the score 28-7. The Sun Devils fired back on the ensuing drive, and cut the lead to 28-14. That’s where the game stood at halftime. Thankfully, both Dawkins and the lovely Myers were okay after the collision. Further proof, nobody is safe in the Pac-12!

This game is being played at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, with the Wildcats listed as just a one-point favorite entering play. They have yet to win a conference game this year, going 0-8 with a 2-9 overall record. The Sun Devils are 2-6 in the Pac-12, with a 5-6 overall record. Arizona State has won three of their last four games, but the Wildcats were victorious in last year’s meeting in Tuscon.
