The deal between Nintendo and Universal Theme Parks was announced back in 2015. Now, we have an update about the vision for the collaboration.

Universal Studios Theme Parks first opened their doors in Hollywood, California back in 1965. Since then, they have created other theme parks resorts in Orlando, Florida, Japan, and Singapore.

For theme park enthusiasts, Universal Studios is the place to go. Their attractions are some of the best in the world and they’re responsible for bringing iconic properties to life. For example, the Terminator ride, T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, is a huge fan favorite.

There’s also their most recent addition to the parks, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Walking through that section of the park makes you feel like you’re actually in Hogwarts.

But, as they’ve always done, they’re looking to expand their horizons and venture into new territory. In 2015, Nintendo announced a partnership with Universal Parks & Resorts. This would bring characters and games from the Nintendo world to life via theme park attractions.

We haven’t heard much since the announcement. But, on Tuesday, we finally received a small update with a new video. In this video, we see Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Universal Creative Mark Woodbury talk about the vision for this collaboration.

According to Woodbury, he states, “We’re always looking for the next great idea and the next great place to take people, and Nintendo fit the bill. It’s a natural.”

Miyamoto also says, “We are constantly amazed how the park developers are bringing the essence of our games to life in the real world. Together, we are building it with an eye for what guests will actually experience.”

So far, the details are still very minimal. But, things seem to be going along smoothly. We even get a small glimpse at what seems to be a Super Mario Land in the back ground of the video, which is awesome.

This collaboration between Nintendo and Universal is a recipe for greatness. We can’t wait to see more.
