West Virginia and head coach Dana Holgorsen have agreed to a five-year extension that will keep him in Morgantown for a while.
The coaching carousel is underway in college football. With coaches being fired and others jumping ship, this is the time of year for the sport where anything can happen. One coach that has become a hot commodity is West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen.
Holgorsen has done a fantastic job of turning the Mountaineers into one of the better teams in the nation and there have been rumors of Houston going after him. It doesn’t look like Houston or anyone will be landing Holgorsen. According to Brett McMurphy, Holgorsen and the Mountaineers have agreed to a five-year extension that will keep him as head coach through 2021.
Getting Holgorsen locked up was an absolute must for West Virginia. He’s done a fantastic job of bringing in talent during his tenure as head coach and he has the team ready to take that next step and become a serious contender as a program.

Having a chance at a 10-win season is a big deal for the Mountaineers this year, especially after they lost some talent to the NFL Draft this past year. If they keep on the trajectory that they are on, they should remain favorites to contend in the Big 12 next season.
Other programs were likely going to try their hardest to attract Holgorsen, but he did a good job of earning this extension. The Mountaineers are hoping that they can play in a top bowl game this season.
