Here’s what took place in the Ladder Match between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler on Sunday night during the WWE TLC pay-per-view for the Intercontinental Championship.

Heading into WWE TLC on Sunday night in Dallas, the Intercontinental Championship has revolved around two men: The Miz and Dolph Ziggler.

Sunday was billed as the last time that The Miz and Ziggler could duke it out over the gold, and to raise the stakes even higher, the match was booked by SmackDown Live general manager Daniel Bryan as a Ladder Match.

As Bryan and Miz jostled with each other during a backstage interview segment, Ziggler hit the ring first to a rousing ovation, followed by the champ and his lovely bride, Maryse.

Shortly after, the chaos began.

The match definitely picked up once the ladders got involved. Both men were able hit some big moves with a ladder involvement, including Ziggler hitting a nice tilt-a-whirl DDT onto a ladder.

Miz would answer back with some brutal kicks to Ziggler using the assistance of a ladder later on in the match.

The two combatants went back-and-forth, until Ziggler was able to get Miz on his back and hit a beautiful springboard elbow drop off the ladder (kinda).

Ziggler actually had the first two opportunities of the night to go for the title, but The Miz was able to shut both of them down; one emphatically with a push off the ladder.

Miz would go on to set Ziggler up behind a ladder in the corner, followed by a dropkick and some good ol’ fashion mocking of Bryan in the process. Ziggler would counter with a toss of the ladder on Miz, and find yet another opening to climb the ladder and grab the gold.

Once again, Miz would keep Ziggler from getting to the top to snatch the title, and then began targeting Ziggler’s left leg with a ladder, which was a brilliant strategy on the champ’s part. He even locked Ziggler’s leg into a Figure-Four Leg Lock through a ladder.

Ziggler had a quick opening after the submission hold, but couldn’t connect on a superkick because of the injured knee, which led to a nasty Skull-Crushing Finale from the champion.

Miz took the opportunity to climb the ladder, which led to this:

Ziggler threw the ladder back at a hanging Miz, who landed awkwardly on his knee, which opened the door for the challenger again.

Miz was able to save the title from a one-legged Ziggler climbing a ladder and followed it up with a huge power bomb on a ladder set up in one of the corners of the ring.

Ziggler was able to slow The Miz down, and both competitors set up ladders in the middle of the ring. Ziggler was able to knock Miz off a ladder with two hard-hitting headbutts, but Miz came right back with a couple low-blow kicks to retain the title.

Miz has a few choice words for Daniel Bryan after his victory as well.

Miz declared the city of Dallas all losers basically, and then took his title and lady to the back.
