After a historically bad performance in Week 13 of the NFL season, Colin Kaepernick will be back under center against the Jets this week.
Colin Kaepernick did everything possible to lose his starting job in the San Francisco 49ers’ Week 13 loss to the Chicago Bears. However, despite having one of the worst statistical games by any quarterback in NFL history, Kap will be back under center this weekend. Luckily for him, the 49ers will take on the New York Jets, who are just as bad as they are this season.
A couple of teams on the opposite side of the spectrum could clinch playoff berths this weekend, though they will need to win and get help. The only team who controls their own destiny is the Dallas Cowboys, who have already clinched a playoff spot, but could win the division with a win on Sunday. The Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks could also clinch playoff spots with a win, though they would need a few teams to lose to lock up the spot.
Some positive news for the friends and family of Joe McKnight, as the man who shot and killed him was arrested on Tuesday. Ronald Gasser was arrested and charged with manslaughter, and is currently in a New Orleans jail. Gasser shot McKnight three times in a road rage incident that would lead to the death of the 28-year-old former running back for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Indianapolis Colts had a huge win against the Jets on Monday Night Football, and then on Tuesday, they got some terrible news. Linebacker D’Qwell Jackson was suspended for four games for violating the league’s PED policy. Jackson cannot return to the team until January 2, 2017, when hopefully his team is looking towards a playoff game. The durable veteran will miss his first game since 2009, back when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns.

Sad news out of Boulder, Colorado, as Rashaan Salaam was found dead on Monday. The 1994 Heisman Trophy winner was a first round selection of the Chicago Bears out of Colorado, and played extremely well as a rookie for the Bears. Salaam was only 42 years old at the time of his death, and his mother recently said that police suspect it was a suicide. Our condolences go out to his family, friends and former teammates.
