Army ended their 14-year losing streak to Navy, and the cadets were so happy that basically all of them from the stands stormed the field.

Army had gone through 14 years of losing to Navy and singing their song first to close the post-game activities. The highlight of this long losing streak may have been former Black Knights quarterback Trent Steelman crying after botching a handoff in 2012. It represented what this team had been through for years in this rivalry game, which seemed like things would never change for a time.

Well, that would all change on Saturday afternoon as the Black Knights finally ended the drought to the Midshipmen. They had the lead for most of the game, except for when a Navy touchdown gave them a brief three-point lead. However, a score from quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw gave them a 20-17 lead, which ended up being the final score.

After the game clock hit triple zeros, the Army cadets were so thrilled with what happened that the thousands in attendance stormed the field in celebration. One by one, they gathered on the field, cheered and chanted about what had just happened. This culminated with Army singing second for the first time since 2001.

It’s an incredible moment for not only those cadets, but for the past 14 years worth of football players and others who have gone through Army without seeing a win in their biggest game of the year. Things like this means the rivalry has stayed true all this time, even with it being a one-sided domination by Navy.
