Against the Dallas Stars, Flyers forward Brayden Schenn got his second career hat trick.

The Philadelphia Flyers are red hot. They have won eight straight games after beating the Dallas Stars 4-2. The Flyers beat Dallas thanks to Brayden Schenn’s second career hat trick. He got his first one during the 2015-16 season. Before today’s game, Schenn had just four goals on the season in 26 games. He nearly doubled his season total in goals in just three periods.

Each of Schenn’s goals came on the power play. The Flyers have one of the NHL’s best power plays, so it’s not surprising he scored three power play goals. During their eight game winning streak, Philadelphia had been relying heavily on goaltender Steve Mason. It’s nice they’ve been able to give him some well deserved goals. After a rough start to the season, the Flyers are right in the thick of a very competitive playoff race. Schenn now has seven goals on the season.

After a career season last year, the Flyers forward signed an extension during the offseason. However, Schenn couldn’t play in the season opener thanks to a suspension in the playoffs for boarding T.J. Oshie during the first round.

With the Flyers firing on all cylinders, they’ve become one of the NHL’s most lethal team. Even before their winning streak, they were among the league leaders in goals scored. Now with Mason playing much better than he was earlier this season, the Flyers are a team nobody wants to play against.

Schenn has 91 career goals now. Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, he came to the Flyers in the infamous Mike Richards trade. While Richards won two Stanley Cups with them, considering Philadelphia got both Wayne Simmonds and Schenn, it’s obvious the Flyers won the trade.
