ESPN will be airing the Heisman Trophy Presentation Ceremony on Saturday Dec. 10. During the show, people will learn who joins the exclusive club of Heisman winners. Even being nominated is an incredible honor, as all finalists get to attend the ceremony in New York.
The 2016 class of finalists for the Heisman Trophy award is as stacked as it has ever been. An exclusive group of five finalists, they represent the best of the best that college football has to offer. Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, and Sooners wide receiver Dede Westbrook are the finalists this year. Each one of these players has had a fantastic season in 2016 and have helped carry their teams to great seasons.
Westbrook will be looking to be the first wide receiver to win the award since Desmond Howard in 1991. However, he faces an uphill battle, since Jackson is the likely favorite. He accounted for nearly 5,000 total yards and dazzled fans on a weekly basis. Also, his quarterback is a finalist as well, which probably doesn’t help his case at all.
The vote isn’t going to be easy at all, as each of these players has a tremendous case to make as to why they should be the Heisman Trophy award winner.
