Things went from worse to even more terrible in Week 14 when Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was carted off the field with an injury. ]

The San Diego Chargers seem to be toiling away in a lost season, but things continue to get worse when they so desperately need to get better. An injury riddled season has forced the Chargers into a hole that will end without a trip to a playoffs. It now appears that their season will be bookended by devastating injuries to their top offensive stars.

Running back Melvin Gordon was carted off the field int he first quarter against the Carolina Panthers. No immediate updates were available about his status, but seeing the cart rolled out is perhaps the worst sign you can get. Gordon appeared to hurt his hip on the play, which is relieving in that it doesn’t appear to be a knee injury taking him out of the game.

Still, the Chargers losing Gordon is a death rattle to a season that has seen far too much of this injury pain. The season started with prized wide receiver Keenan Allen tearing his ACL, which set the tone for what would come the rest of the season for the Chargers. It’s been a case of throwing a dart on a board of names when injuries in San Diego are concerned, something that has depleted the roster to a point where they just can’t compete on the same level as other teams.

Regardless, the Chargers have competed with teams this season despite all the injuries. Melvin Gordon being carted off is par for the course this season for the Chargers, a season that fans will want to forget sooner rather than later.

We will provide further details when updates are made available.
