The Miami Dolphins crush their AFC East rival New York Jets 34-13 on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium in Week 15. Miami improves to 9-5 on the season, while New York sinks to 4-10 on the year.

The Dolphins would take a 13-10 lead over the Jets heading into halftime. Miami backup quarterback Matt Moore would play well in the first half in place of the injured Ryan Tannehill. He would complete eight of 12 first-half passes for 110 yards and two big passing touchdowns.

New York would lean pretty heavily on offense with a great first-half performance by running back Bilal Powell. He would have 10 first-half carries for 46 yards and eight catches out of the backfield for 79 yards from Jets starting quarterback Bryce Petty.

Eventually, Miami would assert its dominance over the Jets. Once Walt Aikens blocked Lachlan Edwards’ punt, the Jets began to spiral out of control. Moore would throw two more touchdown passes, including a 66-yard dime to wide receiver Jarvis Landry on a slant.

Things would get worse for the Jets as the second half went on. There was one play where Petty got absolutely wrecked by Miami pass rushers Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake. They would turn him into a quarterback sandwich and Petty would have to leave the game with an injured back.

That would force Jets head coach Todd Bowles’ hand to play his former starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick the rest of the way. Fitzpatrick and the Jets offense would go inert and Miami would cruise to an easy ninth victory of the season. The Dolphins are looking very much like an AFC Playoff team. They’re going to be a tough Wild Card matchup for either the No. 3 of No. 4 seed in the AFC.

Three Stars

  1. Matt Moore: Moore was outstanding in his first start of the season. He completed 12 of 18 passes for 236 yard with four touchdowns and one interception.
  2. Cameron Wake: Wake did a little bit of everything for the Dolphins defense. He had two tackles, both solo, a sack, a tackle for a loss, and his first career interception.
  3. Jarvis Landry: Landry didn’t have a lot of catches, but was Moore’s most productive receiving threat. He has three catches for 108 yards and a 66-yard yard touchdown.

34. 59. Final. 13. 30
