The rumored fight between Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs will indeed be taking place this March

We know that we’re not getting the Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin bout anywhere in the near future, meaning everyone has been wondering who the undefeated GGG will be taking on next. There has been word lately that he would be taking on another hard puncher in Daniel Jacobs, and it looks as if that will be the case.

On Saturday, Golovkin announced that he will be stepping into the ring to take on Jacobs this coming March inside Madison Square Garden.

No, this is not the GGG vs. Canelo fight that everyone has been foaming at the mouth for, but this is probably one of the toughest challenges that Golovkin has faced in his famed career thus far.

Jacobs comes into this fight looking to dethrone Golovkin with a record of 32-1 with 29 of those wins coming by way of knockout. To further emphasize his danger, Jacobs has floored 13 straight opponents. When someone steps into the ring with GGG, we all want to see whether or not that opponent can go punch-for-punch with the champ, and really, if there is anyone on the planet who can give us that, it might be Jacobs.

Without a doubt, though, should GGG take care of business against Jacobs and Canelo Alvarez wins his Cinco de Mayo bout, presumably against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., then the cries for the two middleweight kings to go at it with one another will only ring louder.

But for now, we at least know who GGG will be squaring off against, and this has the potential to be a memorable fight by the time the final bell sounds in New York this March.
