It will be interesting to see Messi’s performance after he had to watch his archival/nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo lift the Ballon D’Or this week, as the Portuguese won the trophy given to the best player in the world.

Having had all week to prepare for this game, and with too much at stake in terms of standings and local rivalry implications, I think we will see the best version of Barcelona 2016. In the end that might prove too much for Espanyol to handle.
