Everybody loves it when big guys find pay dirt in football. Here is Tulsa Golden Hurricane’s Jesse Brubaker pick-sixing Central Michigan’s Cooper Rush.

It has to be a rule or something. Doesn’t seeing a big guy score a touchdown make football so much better? Well, in the well-attended Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park between the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, we got to see an incredible big guy touchdown.

In a bowl game to forget, Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush throws an atrocious interception to Tulsa defensive lineman Jesse Brubaker. Brubaker sprints as fast as he can in the opposite direction to find pay dirt for the Golden Hurricane on the pick-six.

Tulsa was already obliterating Central Michigan in the Miami Beach Bowl 48-3. Brubaker, like his Tulsa teammates, just wanted it more on Monday afternoon down in South Beach. His score put the Golden Hurricane up 55-3 after the made PAT.

Did Rush and the rest of the Chippewas go out in South Beach on a Sunday evening or what? This was supposed to be a showcase game for Rush to elevate his NFL Draft stock. He had a third-to-fourth round grade as a top-seven quarterback prospect. This was an abysmal effort for the Central Michigan football team.

Tulsa certainly shined in this bowl game. The Golden Hurricane’s on-field destruction of the Chippewas was best epitomized by Brubaker’s incredible pick-six.

What is most striking about his touchdown was that he didn’t struggle to get into the end zone. Tulsa doesn’t usually send guys to the NFL, but all this interception return is going to do is put more attention on Brubaker’s draft stock.

Brubaker is a redshirt junior and will likely return to Tulsa for his redshirt senior season in 2017. Not a bad start to his final collegiate campaign. It is without question better than Rush’s final game in college.
