Florida State receiver Nyqwan Murray caught the go-ahead touchdown in the 2016 Orange Bowl to ultimately beat Michigan

Nyqwan Murray looked like he might wind up the scapegoat for the Florida State Seminoles in the 2016 Orange Bowl. The sophomore receiver botched a punt return early in the first quarter to give the Michigan Wolverines the ball at the 1-yard line. However, he started redeeming himself soon after when he set a record for the Orange Bowl with a 92-yard touchdown catch.

Even with a record-breaking grab, though, he was just getting started.

Though Murray’s Seminoles jumped out to a big lead and largely dominated for three quarters, the fighting Jim Harbaugh’s came storming back in a big way. With just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Michigan scored and then converted a two-point conversion to take the lead. That still left too much time for Deondre Francois and Murray.

After a long kickoff return and then a beautiful drive on the short field, Murray found himself in a fantastic position. On third-and-9, Francoise sent his big wideout to the left corner on a fade. The Wolverines coverage lost the speedy youngster again and the throw was on-point—go-ahead touchdown:

What a play, what a grab, and what a game.

Just when you thought the lead-changes and everything else weren’t enough, though, there was plenty of craziness left. The extra point was blocked after the Murray score and returned for two points, making the score 33-32 in favor of the Noles. However, the FSU defense stepped up and stopped Wilton Speight and the Wolverines on four downs, giving them the win thanks to Murray’s late score. From goat to GOAT—what a way to be for the young wideout in the Orange Bowl.
