Before the 2017 kicks off, DeMarcus Ware will be 35-years-old, but that’s not stopping him from wanting to do work.

For the past two years, nine-time Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Ware has shown signs of slowing down. During the Broncos Super Bowl season a year ago, Ware totaled 7.5 sacks and this season, he only totaled four sacks. In Ware’s defense, he’s been battling nagging injuries, but in the same breath, some will attribute that to Father Time.

Over the last two years, Ware will have missed a grand total of 11 games due to a back injury and a fractured forearm suffered earlier this season. Last week, Ware was placed on the injured reserve list, which ended his season before the team’s regular-season finale against the Oakland Raiders tomorrow.

Following all of the injuries, there’s been speculation that Ware might decide to hang them up, not so fast. Today on Twitter, Ware announced his intentions for 2017.

"“Appreciate the thoughts, prayers, articles, etc. Surgery went well,” he wrote Saturday. “I’ve noticed critics always count you out because that’s what they want to see according to THEIR timetable of your life. In life, there are people of many words, but far less people of action. Sometimes things don’t need to be said. Critics will try to crown u, but they don’t even know what the throne feels like. I’m not ready to rule the kingdom yet; there’s still fire in my heart to do work out here. And if you don’t see the kind of work I’m referring to, you’ll see this ’17 season. Can’t never count me out; count me in ….. #94.”"

Despite his age, when healthy, Ware is still a valuable piece to Denver’s defensive line. He’s still a guy opposing offensive coordinators must account for every Sunday. While this hasn’t been a fun year for Broncos fans, this is welcomed news moving forward.
