Here’s what we learned from the Alabama Crimson Tide’s big victory over the Washington Huskies in the Peach Bowl.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are once again going back to the National Championship Game. After dispatching of the Washington Huskies 24-7 in the Peach Bowl, the Crimson Tide are flexing their muscles on defense and will have a chance to defend their title.

It was a game that wasn’t pretty on offense but it was won with defense and Alabama made the plays necessary to come away with the victory. The only offensive highlights were two huge runs from Bo Scarbrough. The big running back pushed the team to a win and now Nick Saban has a chance to continue to create history. Here’s what we learned from their win.

3. Washington’s secondary is unreal

Despite the fact they lost 24-7, the Washington secondary did a fantastic job on Saturday. They didn’t allow any passing touchdowns and they frustrated Jalen Hurts all day. He wasn’t able to consistently find his receivers and it ended up being his toughest challenge of the season. The Huskies’ secondary continued to stake their claim as one of the best, if not the best in the nation.

2. Jalen Hurts is adjusting to the big stage of the playoffs

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Hurts is just a freshman quarterback. When he’s been making big plays all year for his team, it’s easy to jump on him when he struggles and he did struggle against Washington.

He lost a fumble that was luckily recovered by a teammate and he got hammered all day running the ball. He didn’t get anything going in the passing game and it was a major learning experience. While it wasn’t the performance he wanted, he can learn from it as he continues to progress as a quarterback.

1. Bo Scarbrough is the key to a National Championship

It wouldn’t be Alabama football without a bruising running back doing damage. With 180 yards on 19 carries, Scarbrough made his mark and set a bowl game record for the Crimson Tide. If they’re going to win the National Championship, they’ll have to feed their beast and let him run wild to help out Hurts.
