Brent Musburger went on a strange rant during the Sugar Bowl broadcast defending Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon getting a second chance.

When it comes to college football games with Brent Musburger on the call, there stands the possibility of some interesting words being said. The controversial subject topic during Musburger’s call of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Auburn Tigers in the Sugar Bowl was running back Joe Mixon.

Mixon has of course been the focal point of the discussion of violence toward women lately, ever since the video of him knocking out a female student was released. Early in the game, Musburger defended Mixon, saying he believed the Oklahoma back deserved the second chance.

That caused people on Twitter to lose their minds. Musburger followed it up with a crazy rant in the second half where he began shouting into the microphone about how brutal and violent the video was, yet how he still believed in those second chances.

Needless to say, with a controversial topic such as this one, it was an awkward moment from Musburger. He already made his point known earlier in the night and he decided that he was going to passionately state it one more time.

The video of Mixon punching out the student is one of the uglier things to be released lately and it’s something that will continue to follow him for a while. However, Musburger believes that it shouldn’t overshadow the person that he believes Mixon is trying to become.

The man is known for some passionate statements during broadcasts and this was yet another one of those moments. It came during a time when the Sooners were driving to extend their lead over the Tigers.
