James Johnson dominated Stephen Curry with this eye-popping dunk during Tuesday night’s game.

When it comes to highlights, Miami Heat player James Johnson probably is not the first player that comes to mind. This especially goes for dunks that will be replayed on ESPN’s SportsCenter or going viral on social media.

Well, Tuesday night would change that notion when Johnson took the court against the Golden State Warriors. He would go coast-to-coast with the basketball, take off from the middle of the paint, and posterize two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry with a ferocious dunk. This would be a buzzer-beater to close out the first quarter.

This play put Miami up on Golden State, 29-27. The potentially created poster from this can also be seen below:

This is a standout play from Johnson, who is in the midst of career year with the Heat in his first season with the team. Despite not having started a game, the 29-year-old has averaged 11.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists heading into Tuesday night’s game.

The Heat are in the middle of a disappointing year being just 11-28. This includes recently losing Justise Winslow, one of the team’s lone bright spots, to a season-ending injury. As of January 10, they are starting the group of Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters, Luke Babbit, Hassan Whiteside and Rodney McGruder. It is a far cry from what this team looked like in the past, even as recently as one season ago.

As for Curry, it will not be a moment he goes back and watches after the game. He is also not known for his defensive prowess either, so this is nothing but a blip on the radar for the potential 2018 All-Star.

James Johnson had himself a play that will go down as one of the best in the NBA for the month of January. Will he be able to follow this up with a performance that helps the Heat upset the Warriors?
