African Cup of Nations Group C action continues as the Ivory Coast play the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday. This match is both team’s second group stage contest as both could potentially clinch a spot in the knockout round with a win.

In their first match, Ivory Coast played to a scoreless draw against Togo. The defending African Cup of Nations champions underwhelmed and can’t afford a repeat performance against Congo. They currently sit tied for second in the group with Togo, but Togo take on last-place Morocco in the other group stage match.

Congo earned a 1-0 win against Morocco in their first Group C match. A win on Friday would give Congo six points and seal a spot in the knockout round. Before Congo finished third in 2015, they last advanced out of the AFCON group stage in 2006. Congo made the quarterfinals and finished in third place overall in 1996 and 1998, respectively.
