Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter after the Indianapolis Colts fired General Manager Ryan Grigson.

Ryan Grigson finally got the axe on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Colts relieved the general manager of his duties after a drama-filled tenure that started in 2012. They’re coming off two consecutive 8-8 seasons after going to the AFC Championship in 2014.

Grigson is the man to blame for a lot of their struggles. At the very least, it’s far easier to doubt him than it is head coach Chuck Pagano. At least Pagano can say it’s not his fault the front office have not solved several significant issues. Grigson’s inability to fix the offensive line, which has been a problem for most of his tenure, likely wound up costing him the job.

Granted, Jim Irsay might be the biggest reason for the Colts decline. After all, he’s the guy in charge and is ultimately responsible for his team’s success and failures. However, Grigson never got the complete trust of Irsay, so maybe this relationship is one which needed to end. And because you can’t fire the owner, the general manager became an obvious and deserving scapegoat.

Moving forward, Indianapolis needs a general manager who can fix several issues. The offensive line will be the biggest one, but they have others as well. Also, the next general manager must be able to work more efficiently with Pagano and Irsay. At the end of the day, that relationship can either be a job saver or a job ender.
