Dion Waiters not being able to remember his favorite inspirational quote is the most Dion Waiters thing ever.

Here’s some much-needed context. Over his last three games, Waiters has been on fire. He started the onslaught by dropping 33 points in 33 minutes over the weekend to help the Miami Heat defeat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks by double-figures. He then poured in 33 points against the Golden State Warriors on Monday and followed it up with a 24-point performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

Not only that, Waiters upset the Warriors with a game-winning 3-pointer and torched the Nets with 14 points in the fourth quarter — which, by the way, included another game-winning 3-pointer — to help the Heat overcome an 18-point deficit. Oh, and he put up all of those numbers while shooting 61.4 percent from the field, 68.4 percent from the perimeter and…53.8 percent from the free throw line?

Maybe Dion Waiters shooting better from the field and 3-point line than the free throw line is actually the most Dion Waiters thing ever.

Anyways, following those back-to-back clutch performances, Waiters was asked about his mentality on taking big shots now that he’s turned himself into the second coming of Dwyane Wade and he responded with possibly the best quote we’ll get this NBA season.

You can’t script this stuff, folks. Sort of like how you can’t script the 16-30 Heat being tied with the San Antonio Spurs for the longest winning-streak in the NBA right now.

Next: Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler open fire on teammates, but their angst is misplaced

Waiters also told a Barclays Center staffer his game-winner against the Warriors was “no luck” before he sealed the Nets’ fate, so he’s basically a franchise player now. His celebrations are even franchise player-esque. Just make sure you buy your house on Waiters Island again before it’s too late. It really is a beautiful place at this time of the year.
